The day 2 or Day 2 and day 8 are mandatory Covid-19 tests which you must complete after international travel.
If you travel to the UK and you are fully vaccinated you will require a day 2 test, this can be performed on day 0, 1 or 2 of arrival.
If you are unvaccinated, you will need to perform a test on day 2 and another test on day 8 of your quarantine to check that you’re negative for coronavirus. Day 8 tests can be performed on or after Day 8. You can also do a Day 5 test to release, if your result is negative this will allow you to leave quarantine early.
The test is self administered, you will receive detailed instructions with your test package.
The test has a Sensitivity= 96.5% and a Specificity= 99.7%
Your test results will usually be sent within 24 hours of your completed test being received by our lab
When travelling to England you are required to complete the following steps:
On your arrival in England
You must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2* after you arrive.
You do not need to self-isolate or quarantine when you return from a country on the green list. If the COVID-19 test result is positive, you must self-isolate.
You must self-isolate if NHS Test & Trace informs you that you travelled to England with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
*We do not yet offer a singular day 2 test. You will be provided with two test kits via this service, but you are only legally required to complete the day 2 test.
